Hubs and I have been trying a new technique/trick/way in handling Sophie when she's a lil out of control/agitated and starts throwing tantrums.
And today we concluded that it works!
How? We hug her. We literally force-hug her.
Yes. Hug your kids! Hug them tight. They might struggle a little (it is human nature for us to push people away when we are down, oddly).
But just keep hugging them. This action gives them assurance that you are not there to judge them, but to pick them up when they are down. They will eventually calm down. And after a few times, they learnt that this is their comfort zone and they feel easily at ease without a need to push us away.
Give it a try and let me know if it works for you too!
